Zen Studio is a beautiful basement apartment in our historic 1927 bungalow. We are minutes from Downtown Asheville, in the beloved Montford Neighborhood. (Less than 15 minutes on foot!) Guests will have exclusive access to the studio apartment and shared access to the utility room (entry area to studio), and the creekside patio back. We sincerely care about every detail of your stay, so we invite you to review our listing details fully, so you will be informed & prepared to enjoy our in-town oasis.
Arrive to our adorable home and lush, landscaped gardens, and follow the stone path to the back of our home to find the entry to Zen Studio. You will enter the utility room first, where you'll find a comfortable area to remove your coat and shoes. Laundry machines are in this room and they are available for your use (detergent provided!). Please note: This area is used by the home owners that live upstairs and the Tenants in the cottage & cabana out back... From the utility room, you will enter the studio apartment to find modern and comfortable furnishings and a fully equipped kitchen and bath. We provide bedding, towels, and all of the basics to ensure a relaxing stay. You'll find our Queen-Sized bed to be very comfortable and there's ample storage in the closet or on the shelving throughout the space, so you can unpack and make yourself at home. Beautiful live plants make this space relaxing and refreshing.
Take in our beautifully landscaped yard by relaxing on the stone patio out back. At night, feel free to enjoy a beverage on the patio out back. And if you're feeling adventurous, try out our outdoor shower.
We are located in the beloved Montford Neighborhood, a National Register Historic District on the edge of Downtown Asheville. This eclectic neighborhood consists of a blend of beautiful, historic homes as well as newer modern and craftsman-style homes, along with several neighborhood businesses. This is a great community to go for a stroll or bike ride, or for a walk into Downtown. We are steps away from the Reed Creek Greenway, which is a great place to go for a run or bike ride. The Creek and Greenway run along the back of our Property!
Our home is perfect for two people that want to enjoy all of the amenities of Downtown Asheville, while having their own space to relax, enjoy a unique experience and have the convenience to cook their own meals. Explore the neighborhood or take a stroll into Downtown. At Zen Studio, everything you could want from your Asheville stay is so convenient and close by!
Guests should note the following prior to booking:
- Parking is free, but on-street only and we kindly request that you do not park directly in front of the house. Please be prepared to walk a block or two to your car. Specific parking instructions will be provided 2 days before check-in.
- The friendly homeowners live upstairs and you may hear them occasionally or their sweet dog, Smokey. Please do not attempt to climb interior steps to the upper level of the home and please do not climb the stairs to the deck outside. The homeowners, their guests and other Tenants may use the utility room leading to the studio, the outside area and patio by the creek. We will respect your privacy and we ask that all guests please respect the privacy of others at our home and property, including the Tenants of the cabana and cottage out back. Please reserve use of the outdoor area between the hours of 8 AM & 9 PM.
- Since the basement is below-grade, there is a pump that runs after water is run or when the toilet is flushed. It is loud, but harmless, so don't be alarmed.
- For folks over 5'10" Tall - Please note that the entry to the studio from the utility room has a lower doorway and you must duck your head to walk through and there is signage to remind you!
- Also for the taller folks - the shower height is lower and if you're over 6', you may need to crouch inside the stall, which can be uncomfortable for some!
- Zen Studio is not ideal for those with severe pet allergies, as a dog lives on site in the house above the unit. The resident dog does not go inside the unit and our cleaners are fantastic, but it may be impossible to avoid even the most minor presence of dog hair or dander in the utility room.
- Remember that Zen Studio is in the basement of someone's home. We’ve provided a sound machine to aid in creating a peaceful and Zen space. Please feel free to use it to achieve better sleep, focus, relaxation or to just drown out any noises.
- Cleaning fee for 30+ nights is $150.
