The property is a private working vineyard, producing one of NZ's finest red wines. The vineyard Owner/Winemaker is occasionally on-site either tending the vines or working in the cellar. He will be happy to show you around the vines or the winery if you ask.
Gillman Vineyard is located within an easy hour's drive from central Auckland, and is well situated to take advantage of the many attractions charming Matakana has to offer.
You're close to spectacular white sand surf beaches or gentle sheltered coves, including Tawharanui regional park, Omaha, Snells Beach, Martins Bay and more!
If you're bringing your boat, the local boat launch is a nine-minute drive away at the Sandspit Marina.
For food and wine lovers, there are plenty of local vineyards, cafes, pubs and restaurants, as well as a well-loved Saturday farmer's market featuring local artisan foods and produce, plus the best gelato in NZ is just down the road at Charlies.
For the culturally minded, Gillman Vineyard has beautiful sculpture trails, art galleries, local pottery, and a vintage/collectable trail.
To get out on an adventure, you can rent bicycles and check out the Matakana Cycle Trail, enjoy walking Mt Tamahunga or around Tawharanui Regional Park, go horse trekking at Pakiri Beach, and even rent a snorkel or book a glass-bottomed boat trip at Goat Island.
