## Emplacement
Castine-en-Plaine, a recent municipality of Calvados located in Normandy, is located about twenty kilometers from Caen and its ducal castle, close to Bourguébus, Ifs and Soliers. It was created on 1 January 2019 following the merger of the communes of Rocquancourt, Tilly-la-Campagne and Hubert-Folie. Occupied for several centuries, as evidenced by the Gallic remains discovered during road works, the territory of Castine-en-Plaine flourished in the Middle Ages. With fertile lands conducive to agriculture, it was also the site of a significant mining activity in the 20th century, due to the abundance of iron ore. Having suffered serious damage during the Second World War, especially after the landings in 1944, the town now enjoys a period of tranquillity, attracting visitors due to its location close to the most beautiful cities of the region and its rich architectural heritage.
