Light drenched historic cottage, with eclectic art, cosy fireplace and a generous cute kitchen.
The main bedroom contains a queen bed and a single bed, with views of the waves and mountains. The second bedroom catches the afternoon sun, and has fun built in bunk beds as well as a cot.
Relax on the front deck with views of the lighthouse and coastline, ten steps from the sandy beach!
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Bring your own linen (towels / sheets / pillowcases / duvet cover / tea towels); Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave.
Castlepoint is a hugely popular destination renowned for its dramatic landscape and incredible surfing. There is also a lagoon area which is perfect for more sedate water sports such as canoeing, stand up paddle boarding and smaller children.
The local shop/tearooms are two doors away. They stock all the basics and do great takeaways plus L'Affare coffee.
There is a golf course located 5 minutes drive away plus The Whakatiki- a great local pub serving great food. Fishing is a way of life with plenty of kaimoana.
There are numerous local walks which offer stunning views, ie climbing Castlerock. Sometimes in summer there is the amazing spectacle of the phosphorescent micro organisms which lie just underneath the surface of the sand. When you walk on the beach after dark they illuminate your footsteps - an incredible phenomenon!
Castlepoint beach was voted number 5 best beach in New Zealand in 2014. It is beautiful and expansive and lined with Pohutakawa - classic New Zealand.
There is an amazing big sand dune at one end of the beach which is superb for speeding down on a boogie board.
Mataikona is a small settlement 10/15 minutes drive over the hill where there is an even bigger sand dune plus some incredible rock formations.
Walk up the back hillside section of the batch and relax with superb views. It is one big playground for children and adults alike and is the perfect holiday spot to relax and wind down. There are two surfboards, boogie board and golf clubs available for you to use.
